Welcome to Tusko Hopkins' campaign site
About me
I started playing EVE during its final beta test in April 2003. My main was created on the 19th May 2003. I spent the first year playing solo in empire (which was a lot simpler back then), then joined HUN Corp. My character has been a 0.0 resident since.
We had a kind of adventureous life in 0.0, started with Fountain Alliance, moved to Imperium, then into the north, joined Forsaken Empire. My corp was frozen for a year, I have been member of Rage of Angels during that period, member of Morsus Mihi. When HUN was resurrected, we moved back to Fountain and have been living there until the massive invasion against BOB forced us to move to Delve.
During these 4 years of 0.0 life I played an increasingly important role in my corp. I started off as a random soldier in a small, 6-7 man corp, but after a while I begun taking care of the diplomatic issues arising in alliance life. I became the primary diplomat and international contact of my corp, and as we were growing and moving between alliances, I started to play an increasingly important role and gained director status. Recently, because of the resignation of our last CEO, I took his office, so right now I am the CEO of an old, veteran corp consisting of real life friends who have been flying together for years.
I have a lot of friends all around the galaxy. Because of me being a diplomat for our corp, which was always respected in whichever alliance it was member of, I came in contact with numerous diplomats, directors, CEOs all around the galaxy. I have friends in every major alliance in EVE. A lot of people seem to know my character Tusko, because I usually get primary in about every fight.
The most epic event in my entire EVE carreer was winning the Alliance Tournament 4. I have been the main guy organizing our efforts, inventing tactics, which worked very well and led us to victory.
I have also created some tools for EVE, my most grandious work is a killboard engine several corps and alliances have been using. You can see it running on killboard.eve-online.hu, which is a community site of the Hungarian EVE players. Unfortunately it is a login-based killboard so you can't see most of it without a login.
Experience with CSM
I ended up 10th on the first CSM election, held in May, that made me the first Alternate in the council. I have been sitting in the front row and have first hand experience about how the council works, I have a rough idea of its limitations and possibilities. I also had the chance to cast several votes on different issues.
Programme
I will not write a long programme, I will just specify the priorities I would like to represent if I happen to get elected into the council. I have been a 0.0 based player in a small corp during my entire carreer so that is the aspect of the game I know the best and I would like to stand out for. This means that if you are a player who likes small-scale pvp, like <10 roaming gangs and such, I am your man, I know exactly what it is like and how it can be boosted or ruined.
My primary focus will be resurrecting roaming, because I think the way it currently works is not okay, it is not so much fun, and it has lost several of its former goals, like logistical disruption and wealth making. I would like to reach this goal by making 0.0 a more vivid place than it is today, with restoring old goals and providing new ones to roaming gangs.
I also have some plans regarding the operation of the Council. I think the CSM needs a much stronger PR department. It needs to be closer to the community, communicate more towards the playerbase, provide them with better notification and feedback on the issues they are interested in. Unfortunately the CSM alone cannot figure out this information by itself, as the source of the real information is CCP, so I think the CSM-CCP communication also needs to be revisited and steamlined.
I am, of course, not ignorant of the less violent topics. I have been studying the world of EVE for a long time, I know its history, I am aware if its past end current problems, I know how CCP tried to fix them and created even more defects and inbalances (well, not always, just most of the time).
I think the following ones are the most problematic topics that require urgent addressing:
- Lag:I have seen improvement in this field recently, especially since StacklessIO and EVE64 hit in, but its not enough. I support ideas which aim for reducing the amount of lag in fleet battles.
- Low sec: it's completely wrong the way it is. Something needs to be done.
- Jita: we need market segregation
- CCP's approach to fixing the game: either less drastic, or better thought out changes, and more and better communication about what's going on. More focus on fixing stuff and less on adding new content
- World of EVE: needs more dynamism. Everything is too static at the moment.
-
Some gameplay areas are way too boring and very predictable. Mining needs an overhaul to make the game experience deeper and
agent missions need to be more random, both in risk and in reward.
There are also a lot of things in 0.0 which we do, because it is the winning strategy, but in reality it is very boring for all sides. Like POS warfare or doing the logistics. These areas of game should be improved so that they remain important aspects, but in a less annoying way. - Events: what is ISD Aurora doing? Where are all the interesting roleplaying events we used to see back in 2005? Serpentis titan hijackings, Jove ships failing to jump bridge properly, Crielere incidents? And what about these past events, they need follow ups! People need circus.
If you are player who likes balanced, small scale warfare, vote on me, I am your man.
If you are the kind of guy who cares about the future of EVE, how it is being fixed and balanced, if you wanna see a guy in the council who actually knows the reasons of the problems and has an idea about how to fix them, vote on me.
If you wanna see an experienced player in the council who has seen it all and knows EVE inside out and does not debate about things he does not know anything about, vote on me.
My alliance is tiny so I need all the support I can get. If you have questions, drop me an eve mail or ask me in my campaign thread on the eve-o forums.
Regards:
CEO of HUN Corp.
